security covers - introduction

To convert a slatted cover into a security cover is quite simple and will often work out much less expensive than a so called ‘Safety cover’ We have avoided the word ‘safety’ as we feel no pool can be completely safe. We use the word security, as a security system is a guard against something happening, rather than total safety.

The product we sell will be submitted for the French norm. Certificate later this year (2008) but as yet, although all the elements comply we are still completing and processing our application.

The difference between a traditional slatted cover
and a Security cover.

  • The opaque slats are of a different grade of pvc and the solar slats are of polycarbonate.
  • There need to be a handrail at a suitable depth along the sides of the pool.
  • There needs to be support at both ends of the pool. At the roller end, if the roller is a submerged system, the this is deemed to be self supporting, if the roller is aboveground then the roller straps must be adjusted, so there is no slack, to support the cover.
  • There must also be support at the far end of
the pool, and this must consist of a childproof device, either a difficult to remove strap or similar device.
